<dc:subject>Portalicious Status</dc:subject>

Welcome to PORTALICIOUS—a video portal unlike the others out there, in that the creative tools required to produce videos are (or will be) built right into the site.
You don't need a camera. No actors. No location. Just an idea. You can make a one-liner or a rich dialogue. It's easy, and fast:

Choose your virtual location

Cast your virtual actors

Write your script

Render and publish the result to your account, for the world to see

A two-minute video should take you about ten minutes. Provided you don't sweat the details too much.
Of course, none of that stuff is quite ready yet. So let's break the ice on this project with an informal status update.

If the development of a portal were measured in pixels, starting from the top, we're about 200 or so pixels done. A header graphic and some snazzy CSS 2.0 tabs that took Knuckles all freakin' day—just to figure out the math.
For my part, I spent my time playing with the media gallery and putting together my thoughts on what we need to do to it to get to work, and to feel, the way it needs to. I think I've got a really good idea of where to go with it, and the good news is that I think we're already a good part of the way there.
The media gallery (to say nothing of the portal engine itself) is an impressive plug-in that already supports much of the functionality we had dreamed up when we wrote the spec. Now I'm not keen on it's look-n-feel, nor the overall user experience in its current state—but through the mist of standard HTML forms I can see the end-goal.
I occasionally noticed Blaine logged in. Not sure what he was up to.
I think this site is going to rock.
